Stew on the Bayou

A hearty, soulful stew packed with bold Louisiana flavor—perfect served over rice or enjoyed as a comforting bowl of soup.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb shrimp

  • 1 lb sausage (sliced)

  • 1 lb potatoes (cubed)

  • ½ can cream of mushroom soup

  • ½ can cream of celery soup

  • ½ cup chopped onions

  • 1 packet brown gravy mix

  • 2 cups water


Instructions:

  1. Prep the Protein:

    • Sauté shrimp in a skillet and set aside.

    • In a separate skillet, sauté sausage and set aside.

  2. Sauté Aromatics:In your stew pot, sauté chopped onions until softened.

  3. Parboil Potatoes:Boil cubed potatoes for 5 minutes to partially cook them.

  4. Build the Stew Base:In the pot with onions, pour in 2 cups of water and stir in the brown gravy mix until fully blended.

  5. Combine and Simmer:Add the shrimp, sausage, potatoes, cream of mushroom, and cream of celery to the pot. Stir well.Let simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Serve:Enjoy as-is or serve hot over white rice.
